Former Ottawa Deputy Mayor Bob Monette Endorses Subhir Uppal for Kitchissippi Councillor

Former Ottawa Deputy Mayor and longtime City Councillor Bob Monette has endorsed Subhir Uppal to be Kitchissippi’s next City Councillor.

Monette served more than 12 years on Ottawa City Council, including four years as Deputy Mayor. He says getting to know Uppal and seeing his commitment to the community convinced him to offer his support.

“I’ve gotten to know Subhir Uppal, and what strikes me most is his passion for his community,” said Monette. “When Subhir sees a problem, he is proactive and looks for a solution. I’m also very impressed by his work teaching ethics and the way he leads by example. I’m pleased to endorse Subhir Uppal for Kitchissippi City Councillor.”

Uppal is a longtime Kitchissippi resident, small business owner and ethics instructor who holds an Executive MBA from the University of Ottawa. He has built his career around leadership, problem-solving and ethical decision-making.

“Bob spent years at City Hall working for his community and delivering results, so his endorsement means a great deal to me,” said Uppal. “I believe public service is about listening, identifying problems and doing the work to find solutions. That’s the approach I’ll bring to City Hall.”

Uppal is running on a platform focused on improving transit, investing in recreation and infrastructure, taking a new approach to social housing, and ensuring Kitchissippi gets its fair share of City services and investment.

The Ottawa municipal election is October 26, 2026.
